Conspiracies and secret rituals: what do we know about the Freemasons?

Short told the story of a judge hearing a divorce case who appeared to be strongly in favour of the wife’s petition for custody of the children until the husband brushed his hand through his hair, turning his hand up as he did so – a Masonic secret sign.

The judge spotted it, immediately performed a volte-face and awarded him custody.

Is this true? Who knows? Not surprisingly the Freemasons’ website presents a very different image of what it calls “the craft”.

“Freemasonry prides itself on transparency,” it says. “Not only are Freemasons completely free to acknowledge their membership they are encouraged to do so.”

It adds: “Freemasonry is more relevant and important to society today than ever, as it encompasses and embraces all the fundamental principles of good citizenship.”
