At the core of narcissism is the belief that all others are wrong, which is how a person caught up in narcissism feels emotionally safe. If s/he is the only one who is right, their safety is never threatened. This also means that attempts to expose will rarely work. If I confront a person caught up in narcissism, s/he will find a way to twist that confrontation until I am the bad one, the one at fault, and if it weren’t for me and my twisted beliefs, all would be fine. The bottom line is a narcissist is rarely exposed because it is intimately woven into their personality disorder to avoid exposure at all costs.
