Well I survived another Christmas and Birthday without children or grandchildren!!!
Its amazing how time heals and your mind and body adjust when you keep yourself well tuned in and in good shape.
I am lucky enough to be surrounded by wonderful friends who go the extra mile to make special occasions really memorable and help me forget my situation.
I have worked hard this year, along with a great therapist to come to terms with being a long term alienated parent/grandparent. Its amazing how different life can be when you work through the ups and downs and take a step back to look at your situation from the outside in.
Well at least two of the things on my wishlist will be happening next year, flying and diving thanks to generous friends and a wonderful, thoughtful husband. Life just gets better and I don’t plan to stop there.
I urge any of you who have been alienated for some years to start planning and make sure that you do all the things you have ever wanted to do. Do not sit waiting for your adult child/children to come to there senses.
DO NOT PUT YOUR LIFE ON HOLD!!!!
I have been sitting around for far too long hoping and waiting for change which may never come. Look ahead and plan for the future, have something wonderful to look forward to, share it with the friends and family who do love to spend time with you.
Most of all stay healthy and strong in body and mind then the rest will follow.
More of this to come next year.
But there’s a beginning in an end, you know? It’s true that you can’t reclaim what you had, but you can lock it up behind you. Start fresh. — Alexandra Bracken
